Come enjoy an intimate night of D.C. stories, inspired by the theme "Being Local," which will toy with that phrase we've all heard: "No one's a local in D.C."

The program will include:

Amy Saidman. Founder of SpeakeasyDC, a storytelling spot.
Jonathan Vaile. A slam poet on the D.C. scene, published poet, author and high school English teacher.
Andrew Bucket. A local bard who has run storytelling nights at the BYT Uncapped space and Gold Leaf.
The Prince of Petworth himself. 'Nuff said.
Sara Barger. A raunchy former sex blogger and comedienne who now earns a living making politically charged YouTube videos.
Robyn Mincher. Local writer and PR lady about town.
Sam Reid. A well-traveled and highly experimental 25-year-old who is... wait for it... actually a local.
Jian DeLeon. Man about town whom we are about to lose to NYC, writer at Complex and shopping editor at Valet Magazine.

Your host will be 365DC writer and D.C. tweeter deluxe, Mary-Alice Farina.

$10 advance tickets include unlimited kegged beer. BYO-whatever else you care to imbibe. Attendees must be 21 years of age or older.

Directions: The Blagden Brickroom is located in Blagden Alley, between 9th and 10th and M and N streets.

It's about a block from the Mt. Vernon Square Metro stop on the green/yellow line. Once you get off at the Metro at 7th & M:

  • Walk west (away from the Subway) on M Street, crossing 9th (you'll pass First Cup on the left and a liquor store on the right)
  • Make the first right turn into Blagden Alley--the ground is brick, there's a parking lot  where you'll need to turn
  • Go past Rent-A-Wreck and it's the first building after that--the door will be directly ahead of you (looks like a back door), next to a stop sign (you'll see a number 3).
